Emergency routingEmergency septic backup help in Shelby County, AL
If sewage is backing up into your home or standing in your yard, the next hour matters more than the next week. Do the five things on the checklist below, then send the form marked Emergency — it goes out immediately to local pros who have opted in to urgent calls, under a 15-minute claim standard.
- Stop water use first — it limits the mess more than anything else.
- Straight with you: we route your request fast — we can't guarantee a contractor's exact call or arrival time.
Send an emergency request
Routed immediately to pros who opted in to urgent calls.
It is being routed first to local pros who opted in to urgent calls, under a target of a pro claiming your request within 15 minutes. Once a pro claims it, you'll get their name and direct number. If you haven't been contacted within 45 minutes, reply to your confirmation email and we'll escalate your request to the next pro. We route requests immediately, but we can't guarantee exactly when a contractor will call or arrive.
Pre-launch note: this form is not yet connected, so this preview doesn't send anything yet.
Do this now — the first 10 minutes
- Stop running water. No laundry, no dishwasher, showers off, flush only when absolutely necessary. Every gallon you add is a gallon the system has to put somewhere — and right now it has nowhere good to go.
- Keep people and pets away from standing sewage or flooded areas, inside or out. Sewage is a genuine health hazard, not just a mess.
- Don't open the tank or try to pump it yourself. Septic tanks produce gases that can overcome a person quickly, and the lid work is heavy and awkward even for pros.
- If an alarm is sounding, silence it (most panels have a mute button) — but note that it went off, and when. The alarm usually means high water in a pump tank.
- Jot down the facts while they're fresh: which drains are affected, when it started, whether there's standing sewage, and anything unusual in the last few days — heavy rain, houseguests, a laundry marathon. The pro's first questions will be exactly these.
How emergency routing works here
This site is a matching service, and emergencies are routed differently from routine quotes — because we won't pretend otherwise, here is the actual process:
- Target: emergency requests are sent immediately to local pros who have specifically opted in to urgent calls, under a 15-minute claim standard — the first available pro claims your request.
- Process: once a pro claims your request, you get their name and direct number, and they contact you about the visit and any emergency service fee before work begins.
- Fallback: if you haven't been contacted within 45 minutes, reply to your confirmation email and your request is escalated to the next available pro.
What we will not claim: that a contractor will call or arrive by a specific time. We control how fast your request is routed; the contractor controls their truck, their current job, and Shelby County traffic. Any service that guarantees you an arrival time for a septic emergency is selling you a promise it doesn't control.
Details that speed up an emergency response
- Address and best callback number — and stay near that phone
- Which drains are backing up, and where the sewage is appearing
- When it started, and whether it's getting worse
- Tank size/age and last pump date, if known
- Where the tank and lids are, if known — plus gate/access notes
- Recent heavy rain, houseguests, or unusually heavy water use
After the crisis
Stopping the backup is step one. The pro's visit should also answer why it happened — an overfull tank is a pump-out; a pump or float failure is a repair; a saturated or failed field is a longer conversation, sometimes with a replacement at the end of it. If it's not actively backing up — drains are just slow, or the alarm is on but nothing has come up yet — the repairs page is the right starting point, marked Urgent rather than Emergency.
